I think the rule of thumb is: "if you can't export it, it's not your's". That definitely applies to your profile on Amazon.

It does look like our friends at Facebook, et al are now allowing users to export their friends through the dataportability.org workgroup. An open service containing your ENTIRE profile is what is really needed though. For collaborative filtering (which is what Amazon uses) to work well, the data set needs to be very LARGE. Having a big dataset that belongs to me but that can be accessed for Tivo recommendations, iTunes, etc would definitely help overcome the "my tivo thinks I'm gay" phenomenon. And if you could control which services access that data, all the better...
