Busy Me...

Hi all, I've been a little busy the past few weeks, sorry to go so dark. First of all, I got a promotion: I'm not running one of the three product groups for the BBC. (Still reporting to Erik Huggers, the former Microsoftie and all-around-great-guy who brought me in a year or so ago.)  I'm running a few odds and ends including all of the digital parts of our Audio & Music offering (including servicing the BBC's radio digital needs (60% of UK radio is BBC) our RAD (Rapid Application Development) and all Mobile for the BBC.

It's a good gig, and I'm really excited about it..  Frankly mobile & Radio alone feel like two big growth areas for the BBC online.

Also i've done a few spots of press as well..   Web 2.0 conference was really inspirational, haven't had a moment to do a proper write up as I've been meeting my team, immersing myself in our Radio content (WOW we do a lot of radio - I had no idea the offering was so diverse) and essentially just trying to get up to speed. We're launching a new version of mobile iPlayer in the near future, so I'll likely do a BBC blog then.

I'll leave you with one more thought. Apparantly when you add Apple Iphone and ipod (which I assume is iTouch but MIGHT be podcasting ipods) you get a hell of a lot of our mobile device traffic on BBC.co.uk.  Quite interesting....  Secondly, and this is un-audited - Sony not Samsung is in 2nd place for handsets int the UK currently.  - Would have lost that bet.
